If the man is found guilty, he could face six months in prison or have to pay a fine of about $ 6,300, as these birds are protected by British law.
Police officers from the city of Plymouth (United Kingdom) have arrested a man who bit a seagull who tried to steal his lunch from McDonald's, reports Plymouth Live.
The incident occurred this Thursday in view of the Police. The 26-year-old said later that he was under the influence of substances. "He dug his teeth into the bird before throwing it to the ground," said a police spokesman.
"The seagull was clearly injured by the incident, but it flew before we could verify its status. We don't know what happened to it afterward," he added.
Police recall that seagulls are protected by the Wildlife and Field Act 1981. Taking, injuring or killing wild birds or damaging their nests and eggs is illegal in the UK, except where a person has a special license.
If the man is found guilty, he could be sentenced to a maximum sentence of six months in prison or face a fine of about $ 6,300.
