An alligator lunges at a kayaker's boat and almost throws it into the riverJul 152020
The man avoided falling into the water and straightening his boat by clinging to the branches of a tree.
An American enjoying a kayak ride on the Waccamaw River in North Carolina was attacked by an alligator.
In the recording, shared by the local network WECT6, Peter Joyce can be seen paddling down the river, when the huge reptile launches himself into the boat and almost throws the vacationer into the water.
"I thought I heard a fish jumping to my left, but it turned out not to be a fish," said Joyce. "About three feet from the kayak I made out the alligator's head and that was it, I had no time to react," he said.
The reptile's blow overturned his kayak, but Joyce was able to grab onto a tree, and straighten his boat.
The kayaker came out safe and sound and his boat was not seriously damaged.
"If he had hit me and there was nothing to hold on to the right side, it would have tipped over," Joyce said. "It could have been much worse," she concluded.
