Among other impositions, the ape must do push-ups and abs, ride a bicycle or remain locked in a small cage.
PETA Asia, an organization that protects animal rights, released a shocking video that shows how a chained monkey is forced to do tricks and exercises to entertain tourists in Thailand.
The recording was made on the Thai island of Phuket, one of the most famous tourist spots in all of Southeast Asia.
In addition to lifting weights, doing push-ups and abs, you can also see the ape, called Ning Nong, riding a bicycle or locked in a small cage.
Following the video's release, PETA's vice president of international campaigns, Jason Baker, urged travel companies and tourists not to promote or visit programs that use wild animals for entertainment purposes.
According to the organization, monkeys like the one in the video are often taken from their mother shortly after birth. Then they remove their teeth so they can't defend themselves.
