In the city of Winlaton (United Kingdom), the supposed discovery of a 'human toe' half buried in the mud gave rise to an imposing police mobilization that, after hours of forensic expertise, determined that such 'finger' was an object so common that no one believed it possible, reports Mirror.

The find was made by Katie Wilkinson, 26, who was walking her dog when she saw what looked like a 'human toe' in the mud. She was so convinced that she felt that she took a close-up photo of her and went to show it to several people: they all agreed that it did indeed look like a finger. Then Katie did not hesitate and called the police to report a possible buried body.

The woman took the agents to the scene of the chilling encounter and immediately began the investigation. "I was filled with panic and fear. There were two dogs and their trainers, about seven police cars, a lot of officers, two detectives and some sergeants at the scene. I felt like I was in a murder documentary," she later recounted. Katie.

Among the detectives, at least one agreed, upon seeing the photo, that it looked like a toe. With the help of the dogs they spent two hours searching in the dark, only to finally discover that it was not a part of the human body at all.

"One of the sergeants came up to me and said, 'Is this your toe?' He reached out his hand and showed Katie a potato. "He couldn't believe that he had wasted so much time for a potato," the woman commented.

"I kept repeating that I am so sorry for wasting their time. I felt horrible. They assured me that I had done the right thing. The detective said that even he thought it was a toe, and he is a detective," he added.

For their part, the Police thanked Katie Wilkinson in a statement for having reported and stressed the importance of reporting anything suspicious.
