Edwin García, driver of a fish truck that was looted and destroyed on July 9 after suffering an accident on the Cartagena-Barranquilla (Colombia) road, received an emotional surprise on Thursday, when his completely restored vehicle was handed over to him. free, as a gesture of solidarity from Collision Truck, a mechanical workshop located in the Atlántico department.
The delivery was recorded in a video shared on the company's Facebook page, where workers can be seen removing a black curtain from the car, amid applause and before the astonished eyes of the moved driver.
The Colombian was driving his truck full of merchandise, thanks to a bank loan of 32 million pesos (approximately $ 8,700) that he is still paying, when he suffered a traffic accident and was at the mercy of a mob of looters.
Minutes after the accident, through a video that went viral on social networks, the country was moved by an Edwin who, helpless, asks the protagonists of the looting to stop. However, there were no contemplations and his vehicle was destroyed in order to steal the merchandise.
That same day, the driver recorded another video, explaining that after the accident he thought that those present were going to help him, but what they did was threaten him to hand over the keys and remove the load. "They took away the support of my daughters and my only capital," she said.
Just 19 days later, her tears were no longer sad but joyous. Meanwhile, the Colombian Police announced that so far 12 people have been detained for these events.
