This was the scariest movie everOct 222020
Study participants were shown more than 120 hours of the best horror movies and had their heart rates measured.
So that moviegoers do not have to waste time searching for the best horror films based on the ratings and opinions of critics, the British company Broadbandchoices, which compares the broadband offerings of different providers, conducted a study and determined what is the "scariest movie of all time".
The study measured the heart rate of 50 people who were shown more than 120 hours of horror movies that had the best scores on different platforms. The results of these analyzes showed that the film that most frightened the participants was 'Siniestro' ('Sinister', in Spain) by the filmmaker Scott Derrickson, released in 2012 and starring Ethan Hawke.
The volunteers' average resting heart rate was 65 beats per minute (bpm), and while they watched 'Sinister' that value rose to 86 bpm. But the movie that caused the greatest scare was 'La noche del demonio' ('Insidious', in Spain), which in some scenes shot the heart rate up to 133 bpm. In addition, this film directed by James Wan and released in 2010 ranked second in the investigation.
"Scientifically Scariest" Movies
Third in that 'ranking' is 'El conjuro' ('Warren File: The Conjuring', in Spain), followed by 'El legado del diablo' ('Hereditary') and 'Paranormal Activity' ('Paranormal Activity'). They complete the 'top-ten' of the investigation 'He's behind you' ('It Follows'),' The Conjuring 2 '(' Warren File: The Enfield Case '),' The Babadook ',' The Descent '(' The Descent ') and' The guests' ('The visit').
According to Forbes, the study has "some limiting factors", such as the total showing time of the films (more than 120 hours), which "is not much", and the number of tapes, which was limited to the 50 highest rated in portals like IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes and Reddit.
The head of the study, Daniel Clifford, said that the work was designed in order to help fans of the genre to find the "scientifically scariest" films in history and thus save them time searching among thousands of options.
