The couple, who were to be married on November 22, were posing in a coracle - a lightweight boat made of bamboo - when the rower suddenly lost control and the three fell into the water. The betrothed were caught in a strong current and ended up drowning.
According to the Police, the tragic events occurred in front of the parents and relatives of the couple, who were identified as Chandru, 28, and Shashikala, 20.
The rower and owner of the coracle managed to get out of the water and fled the place. He is now facing charges for causing one or more wrongful deaths, The Times of India reports.
