A person lost for 24 hours while hiking on the highest mountain in Colorado (USA) ignored the repeated calls from rescue teams because they came from an unknown number, according to a statement published last Thursday by the rescue organization. Lake County Search and Rescue.

The organization was notified on October 18 at around 8:00 p.m., when the hiker should have returned from his hike on Mount Elbert, which had begun at 9 in the morning.

Lake County Search and Rescue immediately launched a search operation and tried unsuccessfully to reach the person by phone on several occasions.

However, the next day around 9:30 a.m. it was reported that the individual had returned to his place of accommodation. He said that he had gotten lost at sunset and spent the night trying to find his way back. He also explained that he did not respond to repeated calls from rescuers because he did not recognize the number and had no idea that he was being searched.
