A scene shot in Berlin at the end of the 19th century Restored in full color and in 4KJan 122022
With the help of artificial intelligence, recording from more than 125 years ago takes on an impressive level of detail and realism.
The YouTube channel 'Upscaled Studio', which is dedicated to recreating old recordings of historical and documentary value with the help of new technologies based on neural networks, has published a color version and in 4K quality of a tape filmed in Berlin in 1896 .
In the images you can see an intersection of Friedrichstrasse, an important shopping street that crosses the city center and that half a century later - after World War II - was cut in half by the famous Charlie Checkpoint, a border crossing between East and West Germany.
Thanks to the 'magic' of artificial intelligence, the scene from more than a century ago takes on new life and acquires an astonishing level of detail and realism worthy of a normal day in the German capital filmed today.
The graphic material already has more than 15,000 reproductions in a matter of a few days.
